Transgenders now eligible for cash assistance under BISP

Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Chairman Shazia Marri has announced that the transgender persons were now eligible for receiving cash assistance under Benazir Kafalat Programme. “They were facing economic and societal challenges in the country”, she said adding that they were ignored in society and moreover and were separated from their families. Transgenders schools to be set up in different districts of Punjab

On the occasion of International Human Rights Day on Friday, a celebration on transgender rights was held for the first time. The event was hosted by the South Punjab Education Department and featured representatives from the transgender community, as well as teachers and students. At the Government Comprehensive High School, the event took place. Transgender community protests against police harassment

Lahore: Almost hundreds of transgenders took to roads to protest against Iqbal town police's manhandling and sexual harassment. They were holding placards and banners and raised slogans for provision of basic needs as government has banned baggers.
