Ethiopian forces fought overnight to prevent Tigray rebels from entering the Afar town of Abala, amid reports of heavy clashes and a telecommunications blackout in northern Ethiopia. Houthi foreign ministry says attack on Hodeidah a ‘major folly’

The Houthi Foreign Ministry has blamed Saudi Arabia for an attack on facilities belonging to the Telecommunications Corporation in the city of Hodeidah, saying it will lead to “escalation for escalation”, in a statement reported by Al Masirah TV. “Instead of complying with the legitimate and just demand to lift the blockade on Yemen, the Saudi regime committed a major folly that will cost it dearly,” the ministry statement said. Starlink will be available to public by November: IT Minister

Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunications, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, announced that Starlink, the satellite-based internet service, will be available to the public by November or December 2025 in Pakistan. The announcement was made during a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Information Technology held in Islamabad. Addressing the meeting, Minister for IT assured that the government would grant Starlink a license soon, enabling public access to satellite-based internet by late 2025. Read More…

Houthi minister says ships entering Yemeni waters must obtain permit

Ships would have to obtain a permit from Yemen's Houthi-controlled Maritime Affairs Authority before entering Yemeni waters, Houthi Telecommunications Minister Misfer Al Numair said. Houthi militants have repeatedly launched drones and missiles against international commercial shipping in the Gulf of Aden since mid-November, saying they are acting in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza. The near-daily attacks have forced shipping companies into long and costly diversions around southern Africa, and stoked fears that the Israel-Hamas war could destabilise the wider Middle East. SHC orders govt to restore social media platforms across Pakistan

The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday directed the federal government and the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) to restore services of social media platforms including X, formerly known as Twitter, across Pakistan. The order was issued SHC bench, headed by SHC Chief Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi, on a petition against the “unconstitutional” internet outages across the country in recent days. Read More…
