At least two killed in knife attack at Slovak school

A student killed at least two people and seriously wounded another in a knife attack at a secondary school in northeastern Slovakia, the TASR news agency has reported. "The 18-year-old student suspected of having committed a serious crime... was detained very shortly after the incident," Slovak police said on Facebook on Thursday. Slovakia's PM condition serious, 'lone wolf' charged with attempted murder

The Slovak interior minister said that a "lone wolf" has been charged in the shooting that seriously wounded Prime Minister Robert Fico and prompted soul-searching among leaders in the deeply divided society. Slovakia sends MIG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine: PM

Slovakia on Friday became the second of Ukraine's allies to provide MIG-29 fighter jets which Kyiv believes are crucial to repel Russia's year-long invasion. Prime Minister Eduard Heger said that Slovakia would also supply part of its KUB air defence system. Slovakia approves NATO membership for Finland, Sweden

On Sept 27, Slovakia's parliament ratified the entry of Finland and Sweden to NATO, becoming one of the last countries to back the military alliance's expansion. Finland and Sweden sought to join NATO this year in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. In the 150-seat parliament, 126 lawmakers supported Finland's entry, and 124 voted in favor of Sweden's membership bid. Read More…
