US 'more than capable' of resuming war with Iran: Hegseth 

The United States has more than sufficient stockpiles of weapons and is "more than capable" of resuming the war with Iran, Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth said in Singapore on Saturday. Pakistan seeks return of 11 seafarers from US-seized vessels near Singapore 

Pakistan is working with Singapore and Iran to secure the welfare and repatriation of 31 seafarers aboard vessels seized by US authorities near Singaporean waters, said Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. In a post on X, Dar said he had spoken to Singaporean Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan to seek support for the return of 11 Pakistani and 20 Iranian seafarers. He added that he had also spoken to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and that Pakistan remained in close coordination on the matter. Read More…

Hadi’s body leaves airport, will not go to Dhaka University mosque today: Inqilab Moncho

Hadi’s repatriated body has arrived in Bangladesh from Singapore and left the airport, Inqilab Moncho has said. The group, also known as Platform for Revolution, wrote on Facebook that the car carrying the body of its former spokesperson was heading to Shahbag in central Dhaka. Upon his family’s request, Hadi’s body will not be taken to Dhaka University Central Mosque today, as the group reported earlier, but tomorrow, the post added. “Students will continue the movement with discipline today and tomorrow so that no group can infiltrate,” the group said… Read More…

Singapore to sanction illegal Israeli settlers, ready to recognise Palestinian state

Singapore has announced that it will impose targeted sanctions on leaders of illegal Israeli settler groups and affirmed its intention to recognise a Palestinian state under the right conditions. On Monday, Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan told parliament that Singapore opposed Israel’s settlement expansion in the occupied West Bank, warning that projects such as the so-called E1 plan risked fragmenting occupied Palestinian territories and undermining prospects for a two-state solution. UAE, Jordan lead 75th aid drop into Gaza

The UAE carried out the 75th aid drop into the Gaza Strip in co-operation with Jordan and with the participation of Germany, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Singapore and Indonesia. It brings the total amount of aid parachuted in to more than 4,012 tonnes of food and various relief supplies, the state news agency Wam reported. The aid drop came as part of the Birds of Goodness campaign, which is part of the UAE’s Operation Gallant Knight 3, under the directive of President Sheikh Mohamed. Read More…

UAE carries out 72nd aid airdrop

The UAE completed its 72nd airdrop of humanitarian aid into Gaza on Friday, alongside Jordan and with participation from Germany, Italy, Belgium, France and Singapore. The aid consisted of food and other essentials supplied by charity organisations in the UAE, as part of the government's Operation Gallant Knight 3, state news agency Wam reported. The total amount of aid delivered by air under the operation has exceeded 3,972 tonnes, “underscoring the UAE’s steadfast commitment to supporting the Palestinian people and strengthening their resilience,” Wam said. Singapore's population grows 5% post-pandemic

Singapore's population grew 5% in a year as foreign workers returned to the city-state following the pandemic, data released on Friday showed. There were 5.9 million people in Singapore as of June, up from 5.6 million in June last year. Of these, 61% were Singaporeans, 9% were permanent residents and 30% were foreigners working or studying in the country. The bulk of the population increase came from foreign employment, with 162,000 foreign workers coming to Singapore from June 2022 to June this year. Read More…
