Many people have sought refuge in neighbouring countries. The latest data shows 1,014,210 refugees recorded in Poland, 195,550 in Romania, 6,280 in Russia, 64,470 in Hungary, 147,370 in Slovakia, 138,060 in Moldova and 41,310 in Belarus. Pakistan backs global efforts to end Russia-Ukraine war, urges restraint

UN reports over 17,000 civilian casualties in Ukraine

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) reported 17,831 civilian casualties in the Russia-Ukraine war including 6,884 killed and 10,947 injured. “Most of the civilian casualties recorded were caused by the use of explosive weapons with wide area effects, including shelling from heavy artillery, multiple launch rocket systems, missiles, and air strikes,” the OHCHR said in a statement.
