Raids Across West Bank Lead to New Arrests

Israeli forces arrested Palestinians, including a journalist, during early Thursday raids across the occupied West Bank, according to the Prisoners Media Office. Arrests were reported in Bethlehem, Nablus, Salfit and Hebron provinces. In Bethlehem, several people were detained during home raids, while a father and his two sons were arrested in Beit Fajjar. Ratko Mladic: A Dark Chapter in Europe’s History

Ratko Mladic, the former Bosnian Serb military commander known as the “butcher of Bosnia”, has reportedly died aged 83 or 84. He spent his final years imprisoned after being convicted of genocide and war crimes in 2017. Mladic was found responsible for some of the worst atrocities of the Bosnian war, including the 1995 Srebrenica massacre, in which around 8,000 Muslim men and boys were killed. Ex-Taliban commander sentenced to 42 years in US prison for hostage taking, deadly attacks

A US court on Tuesday sentenced a former Taliban commander to 42 years in prison and five years of supervised release for his role in taking of hostages, including one American journalist, identified as New York Times journalist David Rohde. A New York court handed down the sentence to 50-year-old Haji Najibullah for “his role in the hostage taking of an American journalist and two Afghan nationals in Afghanistan and Pakistan in 2008 and 2009,” a court document read.
