RAWALPINDI: The federal government has authorised the deployment of Pakistan Army personnel in Rawalpindi for six months to perform “sensitive security duties”, according to an Interior Ministry order dated Aug 21. The decision followed a request from the Punjab Home Department and was made under Article 245 of the Constitution. The order said the deployment aims to prevent any undesirable situation and enable an effective response to unforeseen circumstances as required by the district administration. Read More…

Pakistan Army on Thursday rescued more than 20 people with the help of a helicopter in flood-hit areas of Jhelum, Punjab. Pakistan Army is carrying out relief and rescue activities in parts of Punjab after heavy rain. According to local residents, dozens of people still remain stranded in floodwaters. The seventh Pakistan Army Team Spirit (PATS) Exercise-2024 was concluded at Kharian Garrison with an impressive Closing Ceremony. In a press statement issued here, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir graced the occasion as the chief guest on the occasion. Pakistan Army troops have been deployed in Lahore to ensure peaceful elections. Punjab home department has said that the army troops have also been deployed in Kasur and Sheikhupura, while in Mandi Bahauddin, Chakwal and other districts, the military troops will be posted tomorrow (Wednesday).
