LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday suspended the operation of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) directives requiring Afghan medical students to return to Afghanistan. Justice Khalid Ishaq issued the order while hearing petitions filed by 13 Afghan students studying at medical institutions in Lahore. An official of the Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation (PMDC) lost his life and his driver was critically injured in a roadside blast in the Sor Range coalfield, some 30km from Quetta. PMDC coal project manager Shabar Ali Mirza was on his way to the coal mines from Quetta when his official vehicle was targeted near the hilly region of Sor Range. The explosion was powerful enough to kill Mirza on the spot, SSP Operations Quetta Jawad Tariq said. The driver, identified as Zakir, sustained severe injuries. Read More…

The government has restored the previous status of the Pakistan Medical Council (PMC) after receiving assent from the President of Pakistan on the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council Act, 2022 sent by the Parliament.
