PM Orders Action After PIMS Ward Tragedy

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday ordered the suspension of eight officials and criminal proceedings against them following an interim inquiry report into the PIMS fire that killed 14 infants. Chairing a meeting in Lahore, the premier directed authorities to act on the findings. PIMS fire: Inquiry report reveals treatment, facilities fall 'below global standards'

The initial inquiry report into the deadly fire at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) nursery said the hospital’s treatment and facilities fell below global standards, sources said on Saturday. The report, submitted to PM Sharif, also identified the causes of the incident and determined those responsible for the tragedy, they added. The report recommended immediate action against those held responsible for the incident, along with disciplinary proceedings against relevant Pims staff members who were absent when the fire broke out. Tragedy Strikes PIMS Newborn Amid Hospital Blaze

ISLAMABAD: A two-month-old boy was among 14 babies who died in Wednesday’s fire at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). The infant had remained unclaimed at the hospital since birth, where he was being cared for alongside other sick children. A Pims doctor said he was born on June 21 to a young girl believed to be around 15. Hospital staff said the family left after failing to provide documents proving marriage. Read More…

PTI seeks immediate medical test for Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD: PTI on Sunday criticised authorities over the reported failure to conduct a recommended cardiac CT angiography (CTA) on jailed founder Imran Khan. He was taken to Pims on Friday for an eye procedure and diagnostic tests, but reportedly returned to Adiala jail without undergoing the scan. The party demanded the test be performed immediately at Shifa International Hospital. Doctors said PIMS radiology department has equipment capable of conducting CTA. Read More…

Imran Khan receives second eye injection at Pims in follow-up visit

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan was transferred to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) in Islamabad on Tuesday for a scheduled follow-up visit linked to treatment of his right eye. The former prime minister was taken to the hospital under heightened security for the second time from Rawalpindi's Adiala jail for treatment of the right eye after his first visit late in January. Pervaiz Elahi rushed to PIMS after health ‘deteriorates’ in Adiala jail

Former Punjab chief minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Pervaiz Elahi was rushed to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) after his health deteriorated in Adiala jail. FIA seeks PIMS medical board for Imran Khan’s checkup

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has filed a petition in the Banking Court of Islamabad, seeking formation of a medical board of the Polyclinic or PIMS for medical checkup of Imran Khan. The FIA in its plea said that a petition of Imran Khan for bail extension has been in pending with the banking court. “Imran Khan is getting an unfair advantage of the concession after he granted interim bail,” FIA stated. Islamabad Court orders medical examination for Gill

On Friday, a district and sessions court in Islamabad ordered to send Imran Khan's chief of staff Shahbaz Gill to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for a reassessment of his health. "Shahbaz Gill's condition is not fine," the court remarked while announcing the verdict reserved by duty judge Judicial Magistrate Raja Farrukh Ali Khan.
