Ethiopia’s Tigst Assefa narrowly missed the women’s marathon world record at the Berlin Marathon on Sunday after fading late despite running at record pace for much of the race. PIA Plans More London Flights From October

PIA to resume Islamabad-London flights from March 29 after six-year hiatus

The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Tuesday announced resuming its flights to London after a six-year hiatus from March 29, 2026. The airline will operate four flights per week from Islamabad to London, said an airline spokesperson, adding that the flights will be operated via Heathrow Airport’s state-of-the-art Terminal 4. Arif Habib Consortium announced that Fauji Fertiliser Company Limited has joined its consortium, which acquired a 75% majority stake in Pakistan International Airlines with the highest bid of Rs135 billion in an auction held for the privatisation process of the national flag carrier. PIA plans to 'resume' London flights from March 2026

The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Thursday announced expansion of UK flights with direct London operations set to resume from March next year, sources said. The national airline resumed UK operations in October after Britain lifted the five-year ban in July this year, allowing Pakistani airlines to apply to restart UK flights. The national airline has secured approval for four weekly flight slots at London’s Heathrow Airport. PIA privatisation: Asif blames bureaucracy for public sector's decline, seeks accountability

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, who also heads the country's aviation sector, has held bureaucracy responsible for the decline of the public sector while lamenting that politicians are often blamed for it.
