Turkey's President tests positive for Covid-19

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said he has tested positive for Covid-19. Erdogan on Saturday tweeted that he was infected by the Omicron variant of the virus. The President said he and his wife were having mild symptoms of Covid-19, adding that he will continue his work at home. According to the Xinhua news agency, the number of daily Covid-19 cases in Turkey has roughly doubled since early January, as the Omicron variant cases have spread swiftly across the country. Omicron Variant: China locks down southern city due to surge in cases

China has instructed residents of the southern city of Baise to stay at home and suspended transportation links in response to an increase in Covid-19 cases attributable at least in part to the omicron form, Classes have been canceled, non-essential businesses have been closed down, and citizens have been required to undergo mass testing. Omicron variant: Pakistan reaches highest Covid cases since start of pandemic

Since the pandemic began in 2020, Pakistan has recorded the highest number of daily COVID-19 cases — 7,678 — in the last 24 hours, up from 6,808, the second-highest daily toll, according to official numbers released Friday morning. Karachi: Covid-19 positivity rate shoots up to 40%

During the fifth Covid-19 wave, which is being fueled by the Omicron variant, Karachi has seen an alarming increase in coronavirus cases, with the positive rate reaching nearly 40% in the metropolis in the last 24 hours. According to the latest numbers released by the CM's House on Sunday, 2,677 people in Sindh tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, with 2,424 of them from Karachi. Pakistan's Covid-19 ratio decreases

Islamabad: It was reported that Pakistan's coronavirus positivity ratio exceeds 3% for the third consecutive day, as the Omicron variant of Covid-19 continued to spread across the country. The National Command and Operations Centre's (NCOC) data revealed that 1,467 cases were reported from across the country after 43,540 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. 11 people test positive for Omicron variant in Karachi

After examinations at the DOW University of Health Sciences in Karachi, at least 11 members of a family tested positive for the Omicron strain of coronavirus. The patients are from Lahore, according to the health authority, and have never travelled outside of Pakistan. Islamabad: According to the National Institute of Health (NIH), the toll from coronavirus' Omicron variant in Pakistan has reached a total of 75 as of December 28. The NIH, in an announcement, stated that the first case of the variant was recorded on December 13 in Karachi.
