Pakistan, Bangladesh ink deal to combat drug trafficking, vow to boost security ties

Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Mohsin Naqvi met his Bangladeshi counterpart Salahuddin Ahmed in Dhaka on Saturday, where both sides signed a landmark agreement aimed at strengthening cooperation against drug trafficking and narcotics abuse. During the meeting, the two interior ministers agreed to establish a secretary-level joint working group between the ministries of interior of both countries. Pakistan, Iraq express resolve to fight terrorism, extremism

Pakistan and Iraq expressed their resolve to fight against extremism, terrorism and narcotics trade. The commitment came during a meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari and his Iraqi counterpart Dr Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid at the Baghdad Palace. US offers Pakistan support to curb narcotics, illegal cross-border movement

The United States on Saturday offered full technical assistance to Pakistan in combating narcotics and preventing unauthorised cross-border movement. The development came during a meeting between acting US Ambassador to Pakistan Natalie Baker and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. Narcotics Control ministry abolished

The Pakistan government has abolished the Narcotics Control ministry on Wednesday. The move has been taken under the right-sizing policy of the incumbent government to save extra expenditures. According to the notification, the Narcotics Control ministry has been abolished and the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has been given under the control of Interior ministry. Earlier in July, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb stressed the importance of rightsizing Pakistan’s fight five ministries, including Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan, SAFRON, Industries and Production, IT and Telecom and Health have been short-listed in this regard. Jordanian army condemns Syria after border shootout tied to drugs

The Jordanian military blamed Damascus for increased drug smuggling into the kingdom from southern Syria, after the second major narcotics-related shoot-out on the border in three weeks. Several drug and weapons smugglers who crossed the northern border from Syria have been killed in clashes that began at dawn on Saturday, the army said. "The responsibility lies with the Syrian state," Brigadier Mustafa Al Hiyari, the army's spokesman, told state TV. Pakistan Navy seizes drugs worth Rs 4 billion

Pakistan Navy in an action in the Arabian Sea foiled a bid to smuggle narcotics worth nearly Rs 4 billion, sources reported on Tuesday, quoting PN’s spokesperson. As per details, Pakistan Navy’s ship during an action in the open sea arrested smugglers and recovered 280kg of crystal meth.
