US shifts more than $100m in military aid from Israel, Egypt to Lebanon

The US administration of President Joe Biden in its final days is shifting more than $100 million in military aid from Israel and Egypt to Lebanon, as it tries to bolster a ceasefire agreement it helped to mediate between Israel and Hezbollah. In separate notices sent to Congress, the State Department said it was moving $95 million in military assistance intended for Egypt and $7.5 million for Israel toward supporting the Lebanese army and its government. Israel thanks US Senate for approving military aid

Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz on Wednesday thanked the US for approving $13 billion in military aid that he said sent a "strong message" to the country's enemies. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has thanked German Chancellor Olaf Scholz for committing to supply another Patriot air defence system and missiles, saying the military aid comes at a critical point.
