Malaysian ships to be spared from Iran's Hormuz tolls

Malaysian tankers permitted to pass through the Strait of Hormuz will be exempt from paying any prospective tolls imposed by Iran, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said. Iranian state media reported on Monday that a parliamentary commission had approved plans to impose tolls on vessels transiting the vital waterway that Tehran has effectively closed due to the Middle East war. ASEAN foreign ministers’ meeting on Thai–Cambodian conflict delayed to December 22

A meeting of foreign ministers from the Southeast Asian bloc ASEAN, initially scheduled for Tuesday, has been delayed to December 22, Malaysia's foreign ministry said. The meeting, aimed at addressing a conflict between Thailand and Cambodia, was postponed at Thailand's request, the ministry said in a statement on Monday. The Southeast Asian neighbours have resorted to arms several times this year since a Cambodian soldier was killed in a May skirmish, reigniting a conflict that has displaced hundreds of thousands of people on both sides of the border. Catastrophic floods in Pakistan displace millions this year

As Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Thailand and parts of Malaysia reel from deadly floods and mudslides, Pakistan is another country in Asia that has faced catastrophic flooding this year. Since June, flooding across Pakistan has displaced more than four million people, killed at least 1,000, damaged more than 230,000 houses and washed away almost 23,000 livestock. Climate change is seen as one of several factors contributing to the deluge. Severe floods displace thousands in Thailand and Malaysia, at least 8 killed

Flooding from days of intense rain has killed at least eight people in southern Thailand and forced thousands into evacuation centres in neighbouring Malaysia, officials said on Monday, as authorities ramped up efforts to provide shelter and aid. Thailand and Cambodia agree to ‘unconditional’ ceasefire

Thailand and Cambodia will enter into an unconditional ceasefire starting at midnight on Monday, Malaysia’s Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced. “Both Cambodia and Thailand reached a common understanding as follows: One, an immediate and unconditional ceasefire with effect from 24 hours local time, midnight on 28th July 2025, tonight,” Anwar said after mediation talks in Malaysia.
