Floods and landslides leave dozens dead in region

Heavy rains triggered floods and landslides across northern India and Nepal, killing at least 68 people over three days, officials said Sunday. Uttar Pradesh reported 56 deaths and more than 1,000 damaged homes, while Nepal recorded 12 fatalities and seven people missing since Thursday. The disasters come weeks after catastrophic flooding in Nepal killed more than 1,400 people. Pakistan sends relief supplies to flood-hit Nepal

Pakistan on Sunday sent 100 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Nepal following devastating floods and landslides. The relief shipment, coordinated by the National Disaster Management Authority, was flown from Islamabad to Kathmandu. It included tents, blankets, mats, hygiene kits and medicines for affected communities. A landslide triggered by unusually heavy rain killed four people and left eight others missing in northern China’s Hebei province, state media said on Monday, as downpours force thousands to evacuate. The number of people killed by flooding and landslides triggered by heavy rainfall over the weekend in Nepal has reached 193 while recovery and rescue work has been stepped up, officials said Monday. A police statement said there were 31 people who were still reported missing and 96 people were injured across the Himalayan nation.
