Iran says its defence industry strengthened under sanction

Iran’s navy commander says the country’s defence industry has become a key pillar of national security after developing under years of sanctions and external pressure, Al Jazeera reported, citing Iran’s Mehr news agency. Defence pact: Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye to establish 'political, military mechanisms'

Turkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan will group senior ministers, hold joint exercises and deepen defence industry cooperation under a military pact signed between the three countries last week, the Turkish defence ministry said on Thursday. "Under the accord, strategic political and military mechanisms plan to be established involving the Defence Ministers, Foreign Ministers, and Chiefs of General Staff/Armed Forces Commanders, and that coordination among the three countries will be conducted at the highest level," it said. Israel says it is intensifying strikes on Iranian military industry sites  

The Israeli army announced that it had intensified strikes on military industry sites, missile launch systems, and elements of Iran’s missile network. "During the night, the Air Force, under the direction of military intelligence, completed a wide-ranging wave of air strikes targeting dozens of Iranian regime infrastructure sites in Tehran,” it added. "As part of these strikes, the Israeli military intensified its attack on the regime's production capabilities, targeting dozens of weapons production sites,” according to the same statement. Speaking to European politicians in Strasbourg, EU Defence Commissioner Andrius Kubilius suggested Kyiv’s defence industry “needs us” but that “we need Ukraine’s defence innovations even more.” His comments came before an EU vote on a $1.7bn package, which includes $345m for the Ukraine Support Instrument.
