Iceland delivers setback to EU membership ambitions

REYKJAVIK: Icelanders have rejected plans to resume negotiations on joining the European Union, final referendum results showed Sunday, dealing a setback to Brussels. The vote saw a narrow majority oppose restarting talks suspended more than a decade ago. The non-binding result is expected to put the EU question aside for several years. Volcano erupts near Iceland's capital

Copenhagen: On August 3, the Icelandic Meteorological Office (IMO) laid bare that a volcano erupted on a mountain near Iceland's capital Reykjavik. German football team stuck in Scotland

The German football team was stuck in Edinburgh after a technical problem occurred in the plane carrying them home from a World Cup qualifier in Iceland. The plan was unexpectedly landed in Edinburgh and a replacement aircraft was sent to bring the Germans home. “Safety first.
