Several passengers received minor injuries after one of the buses of the Karachi Green Line BRT lost control and hit the railing near Nagan Chowrangi on Friday morning. The accident caused panic among the passengers as commuters broke the window pane to escape the bus after it crashed into the side railing. The front of the bus was damaged as a result of accident. Citizens will be able to use the Green Line Bus Rapid Transit Service starting tomorrow (December 25), but full service will begin on January 10, 2022. The bus service will only run for four hours a day, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., due to its limited operations. Prime Minister Imran Khan officially launched the project on December 10th. The Green Line bus service, which was launched in 2016 by the PML-N-led government, would finally start serving passengers in a few weeks after several years of delays. Read More…

Karachi: On Friday, Prime Minister Imran Khan formally inaugurated the Green Line Bus Rapid Transit project to solve the rampant issue of metropolitan's notorious public transport miseries. The premier was escorted by senior officials, including Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and federal Planning Minister Asad Umar. During his day-long visit to the city, Prime Minister Imran Khan will launch the Green Line bus service. Despite tall claims by major political parties that they are doing everything they can to solve Karachi's problems, this would be the city's first mass transit project. Federal Minister for Planning Asad Umar, speaking to the media on Thursday after inspecting arrangements for the inauguration ceremony, claimed the PML-N did nothing to operationalize the project other than construct the track for the buses.
