GB independence reminds of IIOJK's unfinished struggle, says President Zardari

As Gilgit Baltistan marks its 78th anniversary of independence from Dogra rule, President Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday said the region’s freedom serves as a reminder of the unfinished struggle of their brothers and sisters in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Speaking at a ceremony marking the 78th Independence Day, the president said that over the past seven decades, the people of Gilgit Baltistan had stood shoulder to shoulder with the rest of Pakistan. Met Office forecast widespread rains in country from tomorrow

Met Office has forecast widespread rains in Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan from August 29 (Friday). Pakistan Meteorological Department in a weather report said that strong monsoon currents from Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal likely to enter in upper parts of the country from tomorrow. A westerly wave is also likely to approach upper and central parts of the country from 30th August (Saturday). Snowfall brings frosty weather back in GB region

Snowfall at various areas of Gilgit Baltistan amid the hot weather of May brought frosty weather again in the region. Tourists in Diamer and Chilas region enjoyed an unexpected treat with turn of the weather as snowflakes from the sky dropped to the surface. Mercury dropped below to the freezing point at Babusar Top, Nanga Parbat and Battugah Top with the snowfall. Babusar Naran highway closed for the traffic owing to the snowfall. PM Sharif announces 100MW for Gilgit Baltistan

Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday announced to provide 100-megawatt of solar power for Gilgit Baltistan and Rs1 billion endowment fund for the varsities students. New scholarships to be given to the students of GB

Federal Education Minister, Shafqat Mahmood, has announced that 1,200 talented students of Gilgit Baltistan will be awarded scholarships. In the press conference, he announced the establishment of a campus of the National Council of Arts. Moreover, he claimed that new education projects would also be launched in Diamer and Shigar.
