Health dept breaks silence on Karachi ‘COVID’ deaths

The Sindh Health Department has dismissed reports claiming four deaths due to COVID-19 in Karachi. According to the department’s spokesperson, all four deceased patients were over 60 years old and suffered from pre-existing medical conditions, clarifying that the fatalities were not caused by the virus. The patients were under treatment at a private hospital, the statement added. President Zardari tests positive for Covid

President Asif Ali Zardari has tested positive for Covid-19, media reported, citing his physician Dr Asim Hussain on Wednesday. Trump orders US exit from the World Health Organization

The United States will leave the World Health Organization, President Donald Trump said on Monday, saying the global health agency had mishandled the COVID-19 pandemic and other international health crises. According to the notification issued, the committee formed to analyse the new Covid-19 variant “JN.1 Omicron” will forward suggestions to the Punjab government. US, Hungarian scientists win Nobel for research on Covid vaccines

Scientists Katalin Kariko of Hungary and Drew Weissman of the United States respectively won the 2023 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for discoveries enabling the development of mRNA Covid-19 vaccines, the award-giving body has announced. India records 10,000 new Covid-19 cases in a day

India reported more than 10,000 new cases of Covid-19 in a day, prompting its Health Ministry to issue safety guidelines.
