Indian students angry after screenings of Modi documentary blocked

Tensions have flared at two of India's best-known universities over the screening of a BBC documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his role in deadly religious riots in 2002. Police detained about a dozen students at Jamia Millia Islamia university in Delhi ahead of a planned screening. BBC documentary on PM Modi, blocked in India

Mumbai: On Sunday, India blocked the airing of a BBC documentary that questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership during the 2002 Gujarat riots. Directions to block the clips from being shared were issued using emergency powers available to the govt under the country’s information technology rules, said Kanchan Gupta, an adviser to the government.
