Türkiye Strengthens Position as Aviation Hub

Türkiye’s expanding aviation network is boosting its global competitiveness and strengthening its role as a regional hub, Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu said Wednesday. Speaking in Istanbul, he highlighted Istanbul Airport as central to the country’s strategy, connecting Türkiye with hundreds of destinations worldwide. EU aviation agency adds Jordan to no-fly warning list as fighting continues 

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency on Wednesday asked airlines not to operate within the airspace of Jordan after it and other US Gulf allies were struck by Iran in the renewed conflict. The agency last week reinstated and toughened its warning to airlines operating in the Middle East, telling them to avoid the airspace of Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and over the Gulf of Oman as the US-Iran war flared up anew. Yemen closes all airports until further notice after Sanaa bombing

Yemen’s civil aviation authority has ordered the closure of all airports to air traffic until further notice. Yemen’s internationally recognised government said its forces carried out a strike on Sanaa airport to prevent an Iranian aircraft from landing there. “The Houthi terrorist militia, supported by the Iranian regime, prevented Yemeni national aircraft from landing at the capital’s airport, Sanaa, and insisted that the Iranian aircraft violate Yemeni airspace. Indian airlines to operate 50 flights to the Gulf

Indian airlines plans to operate 50 flights to the Gulf today to serve tourists in the region and residents who want to leave. The Ministry of Civil Aviation said the operation follows 49 inbound flights on Sunday and 51 on Saturday. The main airports are in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Muscat and Jeddah, a statement said. The ministry is watching to ensure "ticket prices remain reasonable". Qatar Airways repatriation flights to five European cities announced for March 7

Qatar Airways has announced it will operate a series of special repatriation flights on 7 March, following temporary authorisation from the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority confirming a safe operating corridor. The flights will depart from Hamad international airport in Doha to the following destinations: London Heathrow (LHR), Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG), Madrid Barajas (MAD), Rome Fiumicino (FCO) and Frankfurt (FRA). According to the airline, priority on these services has been given “to stranded passengers with families, elderly passengers, and those with urgent medical and compassionate needs”. Read More…

PIA privatisation: Asif blames bureaucracy for public sector's decline, seeks accountability

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, who also heads the country's aviation sector, has held bureaucracy responsible for the decline of the public sector while lamenting that politicians are often blamed for it. "Those responsible for the ruin of institutions will be held accountable," Asif said on Wednesday. Speaking about the national airline's privatisation, Defence Minister Asif blamed former aviation minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan's statement claiming fake credentials of pilots which had resulted in wide-ranging restrictions and adverse repercussions for the national airline during the PTI-led government in 2020.
