Australian Open bans Russian flag from tournament

Russian and Belarusian flags have been banned from the Australian Open tennis tournament after a courtside incident. Spectators were initially permitted to bring the flags into Melbourne Park on the condition they did not cause "disruption". Naomi Osaka withdraws from Australian Open

On Sunday, Naomi Osaka confirmed that she would not play at the Australian Open, adding her name to a growing list of notable withdrawals. Organizers also confirmed in a tweet that Japan’s Osaka, the Open champion in 2019 and 2021, would not be playing in Melbourne. 25-year-old Osaka’s ranking has slipped to 47 and she has not played since September after withdrawing during the second round of the Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo. Melbourne: On Jan 30, Rafa Nadal edged Daniil Medvedev in the Australian Open final and won a record 21st Grand Slam title. The grand victory came only months after fearing his glorious career might be over due to injury. "It was one of the most emotional matches in my tennis career," Nadal said at the post-match presentation.
