Army deployment authorised for Rawalpindi security

RAWALPINDI: The federal government has authorised the deployment of Pakistan Army personnel in Rawalpindi for six months to perform “sensitive security duties”, according to an Interior Ministry order dated Aug 21. The decision followed a request from the Punjab Home Department and was made under Article 245 of the Constitution. ECP seeks deployment of army personnel for general elections 2024

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has sought deployment of Pakistan Army personnel inside and outside polling stations for the upcoming general elections, secluded to be held on February 8, 2024. In a letter to Interior Ministry, the electoral watchdog sought deployment of Pakistan Army personnel to ensure comprehensive security and allowing people to “freely exercise” their right to vote. Five terrorists gunned down in Zhob IBO

Five terrorists have been killed while two army personnel were martyred in an Intelligence-Based Operation (IBO) in the Sambaza area of Zhob Balochistan. According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation Sambaza, Zhob District, on the presence of terrorists. Massive fire guts clothing market in Bangladesh

A large fire gutted thousands of shops at a popular clothing market in the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka. Hundreds of firefighters and army personnel battled the inferno as it tore through the clothing market, turning it into a pile of ashes. NATO declines Serbia's request to deploy its troops in Kosovo

President Aleksandar Vucic said on Sunday that NATO’s mission in Kosovo declined a Serbian government's request to send up to 1,000 police and army personnel. The request was made following clashes between Serbs and Kosovo authorities. "They (KFOR) replied they consider that there is no need for the return of the Serbian army to Kosovo ... citing the United Nations resolution approving their mandate in Kosovo," Vucic said in an interview. Army personnel martyred in border clash

Five Pakistani soldiers were martyred after terrorists inside Afghanistan opened fire on troops in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Kurram district, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Sunday. "Terrorists from inside Afghanistan, across the international border, opened fire on Pakistani troops in Kurram district," a statement by the ISPR said, adding that Pakistani troops responded in a "befitting manner".
