ACB names Rashid khan as Twenty20 captain

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) announced on Thursday that Rashid Khan would captain Afghanistan in Twenty20 internationals after being named as the replacement for Mohammad Nabi. Nabi stepped down as captain in November, after Afghanistan was eliminated from the T20 World Cup without winning a match. “I have the experience of leading my country before, there is a great bunch of guys with whom I have a good understanding and feel pretty comfortable,” Rashid said. ACB appoints Umar Gul, Yunis Khan as coach

It emerged on Sunday that Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) had appointed former Pakistan players Younis Khan and Umar Gul as batting and bowling consultants respectively for their training camp in the United Arab Emirates. Former captain Younis Khan retired from international cricket in 2017 and later became batting coach of Pakistan. “Younis Khan and Omar Gul have rich experience of international cricket and I am sure they will help our boys overcome the concerns they have got in the batting and bowling departments,” said Naseeb Khan, CEO of ACB. ACB Chief: No ban on women's sports in Afghanistan

Azizullah Fazli, chairman of the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), has stated that the Taliban will not prevent women from participating in sports, particularly cricket. Fazli makes these remarks after learning that women do not currently play cricket in Afghanistan. Things have altered in the country since the Taliban took power, with the men's ODI series against Pakistan and the team's one-off Test in Australia both being scrapped. ACB optimistic for Test match against Australian women team

New chairman of Afghan Cricket Board (ACB), Azizullah Fazli told Reuters that he is devoted to promoting women’s game in the country. He is optimistic that afghan women will play the test match against Australian team in November. Australian cricket board has threatened to withdraw from the series if interim govt would ban women from playing cricket. He added that he has talked to them but the Taliban has not decided the fate of women’s game yet. Read More…
