Ratko Mladic, the former Bosnian Serb military commander known as the “butcher of Bosnia”, has reportedly died aged 83 or 84. He spent his final years imprisoned after being convicted of genocide and war crimes in 2017. Mladic was found responsible for some of the worst atrocities of the Bosnian war, including the 1995 Srebrenica massacre, in which around 8,000 Muslim men and boys were killed. His crimes were described as among humanity’s most heinous.
