Khawaja Asif, Pakistan’s Federal Minister of Defence, said on Wednesday that a general election could be held in November before the next army chief is appointed.

The military minister told BBC Urdu that the caretaker administration could resign before November and a new government would take over.

Regarding the extension of Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, he said that the army chief had announced that he wasn’t seeking an extension in his tenure.
