Irfan Siddiqui, a PML-N senator and a member of the Senate Standing Committee on Information opposed the Media Authority Bill inside and outside Parliament. Irfan Siddiqui declared PMDA as an unconstitutional and harsh law against media freedom. He said that to set up a Media Development Authority is to sepress freedom of expression. He added that the establishment of the Media Development Authority is not for development of media whereas it is for it’s destruction.
