Palestinians in northern Gaza have described their fear as Israeli forces besieged the Jabalia refugee camp on Sunday, trapping civilians in homes and schools in what remains of the camp largely destroyed in previous Israeli raids. Gaza’s Civil Defence said at least 17 people have been killed in Israeli air strikes, including nine children. Israel earlier announced its forces would return to the area in a renewed air and ground offensive.
