Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh said that the US veto of a draft UN resolution on a Gaza ceasefire was a “disgrace and another blank cheque given to the occupying state to massacre, destroy and displace”. The resolution was put forward by the UAE with the support of more than 90 member states. The vote in the 15-member Security Council was 13-1 in favour, with the UK abstaining.
