Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has said Hamas will not “govern Gaza the day after”, emphasising any post-war political arrangement must involve the full return of Palestinian Authority control over the territory. Mr Abbas said the only viable solution is the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza and the restoration of full Palestinian governance in the territory, backed by robust Arab and international support, Palestinian news agency Wafa reported. The President’s comments came during his meeting on Sunday with former British prime minister and UN Middle East envoy Tony Blair.
