According to the annual report of the Belt and Road Infrastructure Development Index 2021, despite the worse conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic Pakistan improved its rank from 6th to 5th place in infrastructure development. Around 71 countries were covered in the annual report of the Belt and Road Infrastructure Development Index 2021 in which Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Vietnam are at top four places.
