Qatar will defend its sovereignty without being drawn into war and continue efforts to support a ceasefire and peaceful resolution to the regional conflict, Emir Sheikh Tamim has said. Addressing the opening session of the Qatari Shura Council, Sheikh Tamim said the country had faced exceptional events in recent months. “These events have once again demonstrated the strength of state institutions, the cohesion of society and the ability to deal with crises efficiently and responsibly,” he said.
