Army deployment authorised for Rawalpindi security

RAWALPINDI: The federal government has authorised the deployment of Pakistan Army personnel in Rawalpindi for six months to perform “sensitive security duties”, according to an Interior Ministry order dated Aug 21. The decision followed a request from the Punjab Home Department and was made under Article 245 of the Constitution. The order said the deployment aims to prevent any undesirable situation and enable an effective response to unforeseen circumstances as required by the district administration.
