Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office reiterated that Israel’s military presence in new areas of Syrian territory is “temporary,” amid concerns that chaos after the fall of Bashar Al Assad is leading to violations of Syria’s sovereignty. “This deployment is temporary until a force that is committed to the [1974 Separation of Forces Agreement] agreement can be established and security on our border can be guaranteed,” the statement read.
