The enclave’s civil defence said that more than 70 deaths have been reported on the second consecutive day of renewed war on Gaza, including children, women and families. Its spokesman, Mahmoud Basel, said that it has taken the death toll since dawn on March 18 to more than 470. The northern governorates recorded the highest number of deaths, with more than 50 killed in seven attacks. There are still people trapped under the rubble of homes, and the lack of heavy machinery is making it difficult for rescue crews to extract them, Mr Basel said.
