Lebanon’s caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati has denied reports he had approved a proposal for a ceasefire between Israel and the Iran-backed militia Hezbollah. “This is absolutely incorrect,” Mr Mikati’s office said. “The Prime Minister said verbatim: ‘We welcome the statement, and the lesson remains in seeing Israel’s commitment to implementing international resolutions. Clarification is required’.”
