The Israeli army said on Thursday that nearly 20 Hamas militants from the Al Shati battalion, including Nukhba (elite) militants, were killed in an air strike. The army said in a statement that among those killed was Muhammed Abu Jattab, a platoon commander and sniper in the Al Shati battalion. It claimed that Abu Jattab carried out numerous sniper attacks against troops in the Gaza Strip, including a July 9 incident in which Sergeant First Class Tal Lahat was killed during a targeted raid to dismantle “terror” infrastructure at the UNRWA Center in Gaza city.
