According to international media, the Pentagon believes that in six months, ISIS and Al Qaeda will be able to strike the United States.  Pentagon officials have told Congress that it is unknown if the Taliban would be able to cope with ISIS, thus the US must proceed with caution.

According to CNN, Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Colin Cahill stated before the Senate Armed Services Committee that the group was not currently capable of carrying out such an assault, but “we can see.” ISIS and al-Qaeda develop this capability in six to twelve months.” He noted that it would take al-Qaeda a year or two to restore that capacity.
