Iran’s Foreign Ministry has condemned new US sanctions, describing them as illegal and motivated by what it called “deep-rooted hatred” towards the country. The measures are “inhumane” and violate the principles of the UN Charter and international law, the ministry said in a statement. Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei warned that the sanctions will have serious consequences beyond Iran because unilateral US measures undermine the global trading system. The UN and its institutions have a responsibility to uphold international law and prevent what he described as coercive economic actions.
