The EU’s foreign affairs minister Josep Borrell called for a ceasefire along the border separating Lebanon and Israel after an Israeli air strike on Beirut on Friday that killed 45 people. The strike, which killed Hezbollah commanders and civilians, was followed by intense rocket fire overnight in northern Israel. “A ceasefire is urgent across the Blue Line as in Gaza,” said Mr Borrell.
