The Israeli army says that it stopped around 40 Israeli settlers who attempted to enter Syria earlier today. The army said the civilians gathered at the border and were able to infiltrate several hundred metres into the Israeli-military occupied buffer zone in Syria before being returned to Israel and taken into police custody. The Israeli media identified the infiltrators as part of the right-wing group “Pioneers of Bashan”, which calls for establishing Jewish settlements in Lebanon and Syria
