Dubai-based journalist Natasha Turak has told Al Jazeera that Gulf state leaders will likely want to make sure that their needs are taken into consideration in any future rounds of US-Iran negotiations. “The drop in oil export revenues for the Gulf states is dramatic; the only countries that have evaded this are Oman and Saudi Arabia because the majority of their ports are outside the Strait of Hormuz,” Turak said. In the UAE, weekly oil revenues have dropped to between 20 to 30 percent of pre-war levels, the journalist said, while Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain have seen weekly revenues drop about 80 percent.
