Taking steps towards possibly recognizing a Palestinian state as part of a peace process “isn’t rewarding Hamas”, British Foreign Secretary David Cameron said. Speaking in the House of Lords on Tuesday, Lord Cameron said Hamas did not believe in a two-state solution, and so “of course, it isn’t rewarding Hamas”. He said the recognition “should not be the first thing we should do”, warning against taking pressure “off the Palestinians to reform”.
