US Secretary of State Antony Blinken met Lebanon’s Prime Minister Najib Mikati and Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi in the UK on Friday. Blinken said there was a “sense of real urgency in getting to a diplomatic resolution” in Lebanon so that people could “have the confidence” to return to their homes. The Lebanese leader, who was in Europe for a French aid summit, met Blinken in London along with US special envoy James Rubin and Lebanese ambassador to Britain Rami Mortada.
