Evacuating all of Gaza’s 2,500 children that require urgent medical treatment abroad will require “seven years” at the current rate that children are being allowed to leave, the World Health Organisation has said. “Since the closure of Rafah crossing, the rate of child medical evacuation has fallen from 300 to 22 per month,” the WHO’s spokesman Christian Lindmeier said. “Children are dying”, as a result of a lack of medical care, he said.
