On Wednesday, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad expressed his support for Russia in the war in Ukraine during talks with his Russian counterpart at the Kremlin. In a televised meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Assad said Russia was fighting neo-Nazis and “old Nazis” in Ukraine, according to a Russian translation. The Syrian leader said the West had taken in “old Nazis” and was now supporting them.
