Following a heatwave anticipated by the meteorological department for the coming week, the Punjab government issued an advisory on Friday, requesting that all relevant ministries in the province take steps to mitigate the effects of the heat.

Punjab Chief Secretary Kamran Ali Afzal issued an alert to several ministries, saying that the provincial and district disaster management agencies had been activated across the province to avert health-related accidents due to a severe heatwave expected.

He added that hospitals and the Rescue 1122 emergency service had been placed on high alert as well.
