Despite the slow evolution of Pakistani drama, abusive relationships and poisonous male leads continue to be depicted in the profession. Nemrah Ahmad Niazi, a writer, chastised programme creators and writers for their “toxic hero culture,” stressing that it must end.

On Wednesday, the writer, who is best known for her Urdu language novel Jannat Ke Pattay, turned to Instagram to discuss current problems with “toxic hero culture.” He correctly questioned “what is wrong with Pakistani dramas.”
