The NCOC, or National Command and Operation Centre, has decided to begin large-scale coronavirus testing in educational institutions across the country.

Federal Planning Minister Asad Umar said at a meeting of health and education ministries on Monday that the decision to close schools will be made after evaluating the case trend and student positivity rate.

The development comes following a spike in coronavirus cases.

Following the brief meeting on January 17, NCOC has scheduled a second meeting for Tuesday.
